Chairman’s
Corner Welcome to the 2002 – 2003 edition of Ohio TAPPI. Or maybe I should say, welcome to the new Ohio Local Section of TAPPI. The section Executive Committee has been hard at work the past few months, developing an action packed program year. We are debuting a completely new meeting format with our first technical meeting of the year, a dinner meeting with a social hour and a guest speaker. This format will allow for greater networking opportunities and at the same time help keep us informed on topics of major importance to the industry. We will also have several of the more "traditional" seminar meetings during the year. Our September meeting is focused on Lean Manufacturing, a topic that many of us have heard of and may even be involved in. Mr. Scott Buchko will provide us some entertaining insights as to how to go down the path of lean manufacturing and how to help smooth the bumpy path you may already be on. Thanks to Roger Bartz of RMT for putting the program together. Also, a special thanks to those organizations sponsoring our meeting. Our next technical meeting will be a half-day seminar on Boiler and Steam Systems in October. As a special treat to Miami University alumni, the meeting will take place at Shriver Hall during homecoming week. Please check our website, www.ohiotappi.org during the coming weeks for additional information. Finally, I would like to thank my Executive Committee for all the work they have done these past few months. But more importantly, I want to thank you, our members. It is your continued support that makes these exciting times within TAPPI. I would challenge you to make things even more exciting, by encouraging your friends and co-workers to participate as well. TAPPI is a unique way to learn new skills and develop life long friends. Also, please feel free to contact me and share your thoughts on the way the organization is going and what you would like to see happen. Eric Eisert |
